General information:
Corn, Maize
Zea mays
Nutritious summer vegetable, originating from the Americas. Very heavy feeder. Requires good soaking in dry weather. To save seeds, plant each variety at least 2 kilometres apart or at least at one month intervals to prevent cross pollination. Keeping varieties pure and saving seed is now very important. Plant in blocks as plants need to be close for wind pollination. If seed is left on the surface each night until germination the rodents may not feel the need to dig up seeds. To eat, harvest when young. Sow after frost. (We cannot send corn to W.A. or Tasmania, check your local Eden Seeds outlets for Sweet Corn).
