Garlic

Ontos Purple Seeds

An Australian cultivar, developed in Gippsland. A striking hardneck Turban variety featuring purple-streaked skins and bold flavour. Ontos Purple matures early in the season and produces medium to large bulbs with 8ā€“12 cloves. The cloves have a rich, spicy character that mellows slightly when cooked, making it a versatile choice for both raw and roasted applications. Plants are compact with tall scapes and broad leaves. Well suited to most garlic growing regions, including NSW, QLD, and WA, in warmer regions it may develop without the scape. Known for its reliable performance and early harvest.

Native to central Asia and used for thousands of years, Garlic is a flavourful and versatile food that offers a range of health benefits and is widely used in cooking and traditional medicine. It also contains compounds such as allicin which has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
