A true heirloom chilli, grown for thousands of years in Bolivia and Peru. Bearing small, dark purple flowers that give way to green turning bright red fleshy fruit. Green with purple tinge leaves and the fruit contains black seeds. Highly productive and hardy, cropping almost year round and remarkably resistant to fruit fly. Medium to hot depending on the weather, scoville 100,000-300,000. Sensitive to frost. Good in containers.

Chilli
Known in tropical America from ancient times, high in minerals and vitamins A and C, used for flavouring. Used fresh or dried and suited for pickling. Range from mildest Heat 1 to hottest Heat 10. Plant as for Sweet Capsicum after last frost. Keep seed moist.
