Allium fistulosum
Salad onion that grows in clusters of long hollow green leaves and forms no bulb. Likes a sunny position and rich well drained soil. Keep moist especially during germination. Harvest shallots before flowering for the best flavour. Useful as garnish. Eat raw in salads or cooked in soups, stir-fries and stews. Sow autumn to spring. 75 days.
