Ornamental warm season annual edible plant, stems and leaves vibrant crimson. An eye-catching waist-high garden feature. Comes from the same family as spinach, and is native to Europe and Asia. Young tender leaves are a luminous ruby red and can be used in salads and young leafy mixes or for microgreens. Good late summer pollen source for beneficial insects. Tall flower spikes that can be used in fresh or dried flower arranging. Heat and wind tolerant and slow to bolt.
