Red stemmed version of Ceylon. Also known as Malabar or Indian Running Spinach. Amazing salad leaf climber, or ground trailing. Rich in A, C, iron, calcium and good source of chlorophyll. Use for salads, cooked and soups. Older leaves develop a slippery, mucilaginous quality that has been used traditionally for thickening soups and stews. Excellent summer substitute for lettuce. Hardy tropical perennial vine. Annual in cooler areas so plant in spring. 70 days. Rows 100cm. Space 10-30cm trellised. Depth 1cm.
